we believe it will go on

The final is due to start on Friday in Ghent, 35 miles from Belgian capital Brussels, which is under the country's highest security alert.

The British team delayed their flight to Belgium from Sunday to Monday because of the security situation.

"Everything is continuing because we believe it will go on," said the FTF.

Gijs Kooken, chief executive of the FTF, which is staging the event, is in regular contact with the Belgian government and told BBC Sport that he has "not yet had a signal that it's not safe to organise the event".

He added: "It is an event with international exposure, with 13,000 spectators a day, so it is a risk event, of course, in the current situation - but I'm very confident in our government.

"Of course you never can predict what will happen next, but I would be surprised if it was cancelled.

"I'm quite confident that we will play next weekend."

The International Tennis Federation has said it is "greatly concerned" by developments but that preparations for the tie will continue.

The alert level in Ghent is category three, the same as London, and sporting events including the Ghent Six, a large annual cycling competition, have been held in the city this weekend.

these women were keen to prove their worth

When war broke out, these women were keen to prove their worth and joined the Armed Services. In Britain, members of the Women's Volunteer Reserve, founded in 1914 by wealthy suffragette Evelina Haverfield, adopted army ranks, dressed in khaki and practised their drills in central London - to the scorn of some journalists.

In France, cross-dressing archaeologist and journalist Jane Dieulafoy, who had already had experience of being at the front in the Franco-Prussian war, petitioned the government to create a women's auxiliary corps. Only in Britain, however, in the manpower crisis of 1917, were such corps founded, and then only to perform non-combatant roles such as domestic and clerical work.

Other fronts saw women get more involved. On the Western Front, individual women were caught up in the action. Emilienne Moreau was a 17-year-old who killed German soldiers while helping British members of the 9th Black Watch during the Battle of Loos. She was awarded medals and nicknamed the "Heroine of Loos" in both the French and British press.

Later in the war, resistance networks in occupied France and Belgium sought to undermine and disobey the martial laws of the German occupiers. As was to be the case in the World War Two, occupation blurred the line between combatant and non-combatant and resistance networks involved both sexes.中醫頭髮護理

Women carried out tasks such as train-watching, publishing and distributing underground newspapers and smuggling Allied soldiers back to their lines. Edith Cavell, the most famous female member of these resistance networks, helped some 200 French and British soldiers to escape. She was found guilty along with other members of her network of treason and executed by firing squad in September 1915.

Other women worked as spies for the newly formed British and French secret services. Frenchwoman Louise de Bettignies worked as an agent for the British and ran an intelligence network in Lille. After she was arrested and found guilty her death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment, but she died in a German prison in September 1918.

It doesn't take a genius

It doesn't take a genius to work out that comedians are a little bit nuts." Those were the words of comedian Susan Murray earlier this year, responding to an academic study that suggested comedians had unusual psychological traits linked with psychosis.

It takes a certain type of person to stand up and make a fool of themselves in public. But there is a difference between being a bit zany and suffering mental health problems.

However, the image of comedians as tortured souls who tell jokes in an attempt to dispel their inner demons has become common over the years.

Kenneth Williams once said: "I certainly wouldn't call myself a happy human being. All the comedians I've known have been deeply depressive people, manic depressive... They kept it at bay with this facade."

Stephen Fry Stephen Fry presented a TV documentary titled The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive

Tony Hancock took his own life. Spike Milligan suffered profound depression and published a book titled Depression And How To Survive It.

Peter Cook, John Cleese, Ruby Wax, Jack Dee, Caroline Aherne and David Walliams are among the others who have spoken about their inner turmoil.

Stephen Fry, who has bipolar disorder, presented a TV documentary titled The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive in 2006. Last year, he revealed he had tried to kill himself in 2012.

Fry said: "There are times when I'm doing QI and I'm going, 'ha ha, yeah, yeah' and inside I'm going, 'I want to die.'"

Robin Williams was also reported to have had bipolar disorder, which seriously affects the mood, with people swinging between phases of extreme happiness and creativity to severe, crushing depression.

"Among the creative professions, it's very, very common," says comedy producer and performer John Lloyd, who made the TV series QI and Blackadder.

But for the Japanese - used to a more polite and helpful society in which voices are rarely raised in anger - the experience of their dream city turning into a nightmare can simply be too much.

This year alone, the Japanese embassy in Paris has had to repatriate four people with a doctor or nurse on board the plane to help them get over the shock.

They also reported internet

Several people in Yarkant county and Kashgar told the BBC the streets were full of checkpoints and police patrols.

They also reported internet and social media services were cut. Separately, a leading Uighur scholar has been formally charged with separatism.

Dozens were killed or injured in the violence on Monday, state media say. Many of the dead were shot by police.

Xinhua news agency said a knife-wielding gang attacked a police station and government offices in Yarkant, which is known as Shache in China.

The BBC's Damian Grammaticas in Beijing says it appears that among those killed were police officers and ethnic Han Chinese settlers. Dozens of people were injured, possibly by police firing.

Confirming what happened is difficult, as information is tightly controlled in China. Xinhua's article came out only several hours after international media outlets including the BBC reported the violence.

The BBC made several calls to various Xinjiang government offices but officials refused to answer questions.

A report by The Global Times quoted an unnamed insider as saying that the incident began when police checkpoints at Elixku discovered explosives, which led to clashes between the police and "attackers".

Some of these attackers escaped and later recruited others to attack the local government and police station, the report said.

But activists have disputed such accounts, saying the violence erupted as members of the local Uighur population protested against a crackdown on Muslims observing Ramadan.loemg123的家園心情脚落-往事回忆教育之行-實踐創新麗之約-瘦出靚麗的你新聞諮詢網-焦點訪談

"local political networks" for the violence.

Issa Timamy, governor of Lamu County where the town is located, is due to appear in court on Thursday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has blamed "local political networks" for the violence.

But the Somali Islamist group, al-Shabab, said it was behind the attacks.

Mr Timamy belongs to the opposition Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (CORD), which is led by former PM Raila Odinga.

President Kenyatta has dismissed al-Shabab's claims because members of one ethnic group were targeted in the attacks.

Most of the dead were ethnic Kikuyus, like the president. Non-Muslims were singled out to be killed.

Opposition parties have ridiculed Mr Kenyatta's claim, including Mr Odinga, who has called for dialogue with the government to address the security failings.

The authorities also announced on Wednesday that they had arrested 13 alleged separatists accused of planning more attacks on the coast.

In a statement, the interior ministry said those arrested were suspected of plotting "ethnic cleansing" attacks and were members of the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC), a coastal separatist group.

On Tuesday, five people were killed in attack by an armed gang on the village of Witu, about 15km (nine miles) from the town of Mpeketoni.

Last week's attacks in Mpeketoni started on the evening of 15 June as locals were watching a football World Cup match on television.

Gunmen went on to carry out further assaults in villages nearby the next day.

The Kenyan government has since issued advice urging people to watch World Cup matches at home rather than gathering in bars or others public places.

The agreement, reached between the city’s Law Department

The five men whose convictions in the brutal 1989 beating and rape of a female jogger in Central Park were later overturned have agreed to a settlement of about $40 million from New York City to resolve a bitterly fought civil rights lawsuit over their arrests and imprisonment in the sensational crime.maggie beauty 黑店

The agreement, reached between the city’s Law Department and the five plaintiffs, would bring to an end an extraordinary legal battle over a crime that came to symbolize a sense of lawlessness in New York, amid reports of "wilding” youths and a marauding "wolf pack” that set its sights on a 28-year-old investment banker who ran in the park many evenings after work.

The confidential deal, disclosed by a person who is not a party in the lawsuit but was told about the proposed settlement, must still be approved by the city comptroller and then by a federal judge.

The initial story of the crime, as told by the police and prosecutors, was that a band of young people, part of a larger gang that rampaged through Central Park, had mercilessly beaten and sexually assaulted the jogger. The story quickly exploded into the public psyche, fanned by politicians and sensational news reports that served to inflame racial tensions.瑪姬美容集團呃錢

The five black and Hispanic men, ages 14 to 16 at the time of their arrests, claimed that incriminating statements they had given had been coerced by the authorities. The statements were ruled admissible, and the men were convicted in two separate trials in 1990. maggie beauty 黑店

In December 2002, an investigation by the Manhattan district attorney, Robert M. Concluding that the new evidence could have changed the original verdict, Morgenthau’s office joined a defense motion asking that the convictions be vacated.

The man behind the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls echoes that sentiment. "What's important is that the hashtag is raising awareness," Abdullahi told BBC Trending. Former UN chief Kofi Annan, also appealed for action. He criticised both the Nigerian government and other African nations for not reacting faster to the kidnapping, and called on them to use whatever was at their disposal to help free the girls.

The abduction of the girls has overshadowed the World Economic Forum which opened in the Nigerian city of Abuja on Wednesday evening.

The US, UK and France have despatched teams of experts to Nigeria to help recover the girls.

Boko Haram has been accused of carrying out another attack in Borno state on Monday, in which some 300 people are reported to have died.

The journey of life is a process of choice!

Life is full and frustrated, but anyway, we still have to stick to, as some people advocate: perhaps, we won't be able to move mountains, but we can do the labor; Perhaps, we can't change the weather, but we can change the mood; Perhaps, we can't change the world, but we can change themselves; Perhaps, we can't extend the length of your life, but can broaden the thickness of the life. 西湖良景 おえおれ 萌物依然趣味嘟嘟蒙蒙细雨
